Wooden Kettle Stirrers

Every Copper Kettle needs a matching Stirrer to be usable.

My design is based upon observing the good and bad of the many Kettle Stirrers I have used over the years while making apple butter at various churches.  This design will not flex as you stir, so one gets the most result out of their effort.  The Paddle part is made of the traditional Tulip Poplar wood, which will not impart any taste into the food.  The horizontal Beam is made of White Oak wood, which gives it strength and rigidity.  The Cross Handle at the rear Stirrer, allows one a natural two-handed stance, and much easier "steering" back and forth across the kettle.  The wooded parts are fixed together with steel braces that will prevent any wobble.

Stirrers paddles are made to fit each kettle depth, and Beam lengths are adjusted per the kettle gallon size, so that one can stand away from the hot popping apple butter.
